Don't miss this opportunity to learn about valuable resources and healthful information from the comfort of your own home. June 3 BRIDGES TO INCLUSION
Judith Myers and Bill Moore offer an introduction to their new weekly group of the same name and talk about the challenges and blessings of openly belonging which are experienced by many disabled individuals.

June 10 GERIATRIC MEDICINE
Elizabeth Landsverk, MD, of ElderConsult Medical Associates is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care Medicine. She will discuss medical issues of interest to elders.

June 17 PROBLEM SOLVING THERAPY
R. Peder Wolff, LCSW, study therapist at UCSF Over-60 program, will discuss and introduce problem solving as a systematic, commonsense way of sorting out life's problems and difficulties. Using problem-solving skills, participants can learn to cope better with their problems and feel better as a result.

June 24 DRUG SAFETY
Learn to use medicines wisely. This presentation stresses four major messages: read the label, avoid problems, ask questions, and keep a record. Mary Ellen Taylor has an MS Degree in Public Health and is the Public Affairs Specialist for the Food and Drug Administration, San Francisco District.

July 1 MAXIMIZE YOUR MEMORY
Learn some great tips and strategies to help you remember the names of people you just met, where you put your keys, and other bits of information. Presenter is Heather Gray, MA, Family Support Coordiinator for the East Bay office of the Alzheimer's Association.

July 8 ADVANCE DIRECTIVES & DNRs
It is important to let your loved ones know about your health care wishes in the event you are not able to tell them. Participants will be mailed forms which they can fill out stating their wishes. Presenter is Julie Schnitter, BSN, MSN, Medical Outreach Coordinator of Hope Hospice.

July 15 MEDICARE 101
This overview of the Medicare program will include information about benefits, costs, recent changes, and options for supplementing Medicare. Presenter: Jess Strange, Community Education advocate for LAS and HICAP

July 22 SPIRITUALITY THROUGH AGING
Spirituality and faith mean different things to all of us. What do these words mean to you? Join us as we respectfully explore not only our own beliefs, but the beliefs of others. The group discussion will be facilitated by Rev. Sue Ann Yarbrough of SpiritCare Ministry for Seniors.

July 29 ACUPRESSURE
This ancient healing art uses the fingers to stimulate key points on the skin to activate the body's natural healing process. This session focuses on identifying specific points and application techniques. Presenter Amy Schaible, MA in Gerontology, has led many acupressure discussion groups with elders over the years.

August 5 OSTEOPOROSIS
Beverley Tracewell, Program Director of the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education (FORE), will speak about Osteoporosis--what it is and how you can prevent this debilitating disease so that you may live independently as you age.

August 12 PLANNING A REMEMBRANCE
Patti Herbst, Chaplain for Kaiser Hospice, will talk about ideas for planning a remembrance service for a family member or for yourself. Learn about available resources and ways to capture the essence of whom you are remembering.

August 19 BREATHE WELL
Margaret Chaika, RCP, Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator at Washington Hospital in Fremont will speak about how the lungs work, the difference between obstructive and restrictive lung conditions, and breathing techniques that will help with shortness of breath during daily activities.
